3 Types of Security That Actually Work

As we have worked in the security industry for over 20 years we have learned which products work and which don’t. Those that are just gimmicks and do not provide and real security benefits ultimately go out of business, as their reputation for being a waste of money quickly grows.

However, those that provide real value often stick around for years – insurance companies reward you for having them and word of mouth reputation spreads amongst business and commercial property owners.

Over the years we at Excel Roller Shutters have learned which security measures work, and which are simply a waste of your money. Below is our favourite 3.

1. CCTV – a burglar’s worst fear is to be caught. With this in mind, CCTV acts as a fantastic deterrent putting thieves off from targeting your property. With how quickly technology advances, CCTV is no longer an option purely to the ultra-rich. CCTV is very affordable, and is probably offset by the savings in insurance.
2. Build a wall or fence – these work on two levels. The first is that any thieves trying to get in or out will have a much more difficult time if they have to scale a fence or wall, especially when trying to carry their haul. The second is that a fence or wall creates a visual barrier encouraging a burglar to simply look elsewhere.
3. Shutters and Window Bars – these work in a similar fashion to the above 2 methods combined. Shutters and window bars are imposing structures and are likely to deter thieves from even attempting a break in. Then, if a thief does try they are unlikely to be successful in their attempt due to how sturdy window bars and roller shutters actually are.
